SOMOS ARTE returns with excitement to present the seventh edition of a gala that brings together an exquisite cast of dancers, accompanied by live music performers in several pieces of the carefully curated program. The event will showcase on the stage of the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía renowned pas de deux from the classical repertoire, as well as excerpts from contemporary works by internationally acclaimed choreographers.

Once again, the Fundación Hortensia Herrero and the Asociación de Danza y Arte del Mediterráneo—the two institutions that created the SOMOS ARTE gala in 2014—join forces with the aim of promoting dance in the Valencian Community. In addition, they renew their commitment to social causes: this edition of SOMOS ARTE will allocate all proceeds to the Fundación Valenciana para la Neurorrehabilitación (FUVANE).

ANTONIO NAJARRO COMPANYANTONIO NAJARRO COMPANY

The Antonio Najarro Company is a private company dedicated to Spanish dance. Founded in 2002 by the Madrid-born dancer and choreographer Antonio Najarro, it paused its activity during the eight years in which Najarro became director of the Ballet Nacional de España (2011–2019). After completing his tenure at the BNE, the Antonio Najarro Company was reborn in 2020 and, since its relaunch, has premiered the productions Alento and Querencia.

Premiered in 2022, Querencia is a journey through the interpretative and aesthetic beauty of the Escuela Bolera, traditional dance, folklore, and flamenco. This large-scale dance production brings together fourteen dancers on stage across eleven scenic pieces, three of which will be performed this evening. With original music by pianist Moisés Sánchez and recorded by the Orquesta de Extremadura, Antonio Najarro presents his sixth production with the aim of revisiting his roots, celebrating and reviving the language of the great choreographic ballets created by iconic figures of Spanish dance such as Antonio Ruiz Soler and Mariemma.
